December 20th Antique Christmas Postcard, My Christmas Tree

December 20th is a day closer to Christmas!

Our antique Christmas postcard for today is from 1904 and features holly and the Christmas star. I always love the landscape vignettes...

How do you decorate your tree? Ours is always a conglomeration of hand made ornaments and handed down antique ornaments. The brass ornament here is one we were given for our first Christmas after we were married in ebruary of 1974...

Wooden ornaments on our tree when I was a child, beaded ornaments I did in the 1960s and 1970s, decorated blown eggs from the 1950s and Victorian blown glass pinecones, bells and indents from my gramdparents...

And this year some tartan ribbon in Christmas colors...

Have a wonderful day! Hope ours will be... last Friday, when we had our power ourage with lots of downed trees, a F-s tornado hit about 60 miles from here and damaged 50 homes...very unusual here in our area. Supposedly we have similar conditions with high wind warnings for today all day, so hopefully it won't be as bad as forecast.

  2. You're tree is beautiful, Ruth! I've always been a fan of vintage or antique ornaments. I'm really leaning into plaid this festive season so I love the tartan ribbon. Hope the weather wasn't too bad today.
