Hello and welcome to a Tuesday Cuppa Tea full of celebrations!
First of all, this weekend and Monday is Canada Day! As you know, we are very close yo Vancouver Island, and will see the Victoria fireworks from the end of our street across the Strait of Juan de Fuca...so to all my Canadian friends...
Hope you had and are having a wonderful holiday!
My choice of teacup was because of our upcoming 4th of July! I love to celebrate the beginning of our freedom...but this is how my Brit husband celebrates...
He always hangs out the Union Jack, although the US flag is also prominently in evidence...our neighbors love it and think it's hilarious!
I had a simple patriotic tea in the sunroom today, which was all I could fit in with our daughter, son in law and 2 dogs here from Utah for most of the week...arriving last Wednesday...and we have been all over.
But I put this together with my patriotic decor balls, Rosebud plate by Royal Doulton and blue and white transferware Bristol by Crown Ducal...a variation on the Asiatic Pheasants pattern...
The table is one I painted in the 198s when painted furniture was a big thing. It is the perfect small table for tea by the wicker chair in the sunroom in the afternoon...
It has leaves that fold away when not in use. The rest of the time it serves as an end table to the wicker chair. I had a lovely cranberry orange and almond scone I made a few days ago....perfect!
This graphic is definitely my cup of tea!
Our kids leave Monday or Tuesday, so am adding the link, as I will be able to visit when they've headed home.
Hope your Independence Day will be wonderful!
I am joining:
Here is the Tuesday Cuppa Tea linky for your tea related
posts...please remember that it is SSSLLLOOOOOOWWWW but if you are
patient...it's there! I am so looking
forward to visiting you!
Happy 4th of July, Ruth! You know, I like the Canadian flag but I still like the Union Jack too. I kind of wish they could have made our flag with the maple leaf and the Union Jack both as many of our ancestors are from the UK. Anyway, that's just me. Your tea table is lovely! I'm not sure if my link went on or not. I can't see it but maybe you can. Enjoy your holiday.
ReplyDeleteRuth, I think there is a problem with the linky. I've tried several times to submit and it won't accept my info.
DeleteHi Ruth!Happy 4th of July!Beautiful teacup and pretty crocheted doily too! Thanks for hosting...Today the link is a bit different,I receive a message in my email from "Maria" to verify it,asking to "click" in a button...I didn't do it yet...
ReplyDeleteYour patriotic-themed tea time is perfect for celebrating Independence Day! The Union Jack and US flag made me chuckle.
ReplyDeleteI spent most of the Canada Day long weekend indoors. We're currently experiencing an "extreme heat event" (temperature in the high 30s Celsius) that's supposed to last until the end of the week.
Thanks for hosting and have a great week!
Hi Ruth! I love how you wave two flags...so perfect for you and your hubby. Your tea is so pretty on your table, and the scones sound so yummy. I do love orange and cranberry together. Thank you for hosting, and Happy 4th! I'm not sure if my link will show up, as I'm not seeing it yet.
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely photos! Such pretty tea things!
ReplyDeleteRuth, I'm sorry. I accidentally put up a non-tea-related link. Not sure I can take it down myself, but I'll check. But then I added a "proper" link! Thank you for hosting. Hope you enjoyed your break.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds like you had a wonderful holiday Ruth. Where in Utah are your kids from? The entire tea is delightful! Thanks for sharing with SYC.
ReplyDeletehugs,
Jann
What a beautiful post here Ruth with those patriotic colors we all love. As you probably know I am just getting here to comment due to company that came early and then we were on the go. I found making out the grocery list and what to fix for them was quite the project. Your painted table was perfect and very pretty. Your husband's flag was also great! Thanks for sharing.
