Tuesday Cuppa Tea Luster Teacup, Hot, Health and Pea Salad

Hello and welcome to Tuesday Cuppa Tea. Things are a bit more regulated around here, my husband is stable although incapacitated for the most part, and waiting for a scope test on Monday August 13th which will decide the next course of action, so thought I could do a Tuesday Cuppa Tea. Thanks so much for your patience!

I am sharing a family recipe for peas salad, so I thought...why not a green teacup! I shared this once before a year ago, but it is one of my favorites. The cup and saucer is a bit different, but very pretty....

The green is really a teal green. The teacup was made in Japan in the 1950-1960s, and is unmarked. I love the luster finish with the gold overlay...

The teacup saucer has a reticulated, or pierced rim, and the cut outs are heart shaped...so sweet!

As it's summer (finally if you live here in the Pacific Northwest), in fact breaking records here, so I have hauled out one of our family's favorite family recipes that we always have during the summer, and are asked to bring to potlucks.

Pea And Pecan Salad

1  10oz pkg, or 1 1/3 cup of thawed frozen peas
2 cups finely shredded green cabbage
3 green onions thinly sliced including greens
1/2 cup sliced radishes

1/4 cup each, mayonnaise AND sour cream (I use IMO non dairy sour cream)
1 tbs white wine vinegar
1 tsp dijon mustard (I never use this, but it was in my grandmother's recipe)
1/4 tsp curry powder (this is just a taste and not overpowering if you don't like curry, and I admit I double or triple this amount)
1 cup roasted pecans...split into 2 sections

In a large bowl, combine peas, cabbage and onions and set aside. 
In a small bowl, blend mayo, sour cream, vinegar and spices. If made ahead, cover and chill vegetables separately up to 24 hours.

Mix vegetables and dressing and 1/2 of the pecans/ Salt to taste. Serve topped with the reserved pecans.
Makes 6 servings

Enjoy... we certainly do when it's hot!

We are enjoying this Sunburst Green Iced Tea from Mighty Leaf I found at our grocery store. I like Mighty Leaf quality, and this has a lovely orange and lemon nuance to the green tea...very refreshing!

Tuesday Cuppa Tea Sequim Lavender Festival, Jardin Du Soleil

Hello and welcome to my meme Tuesday Cuppa Tea featuring the just past Sequim Lavender Weekend.

There is no linky, as due to my husband's health situation I won't be sure what the coming weeks will be like until another procedure and a test Tuesday, July 24th, when we will know what's next for him.

In honor of the Sequim Lavender Festival, which has just ended, here is my teacup from my archives...as purple teacups don't come by too often...a purple three footed beauty from Occupied Japan:

And it had 3 feet too, which I am indeed partial to!

The Occupied Japan period was from 1945-1952 when post World War II Japan was occupied and rebuilt by the allied nations. I love the color, shape and decoration. Too cool! 

This is the artwork submitted by artist Julie Peterson that was chosen as the 2018 Lavender Festival image this year, and was on lots of different items for sale on the weekend....

The 22nd annual Sequim Lavender Festival ended Sunday...three days of lavender farm visiting, lavender cutting, sniffing, eating and shopping with the additions of a car show, hot air balloons....and actually gorgeous weather...which is not always the case. Estimates are that we had 30-40,000 extra in town for the festivals...the ferry from Victoria, BC had been sold out for weeks, even with extra trips added.

On the first day we choose a lavender farm to visit, and, as we couldn't do that this year with my husband's health, I am reposting a previous year's visit to Jardin Du Soleil, as we took out visiting Daughter and son in law there the week before my husband fell ill.  

 We visited Jardin Du Soliel early in the morning before the crowds arrived.

Are you Lavender'd out? It always smells so nice around here this time of year. And then, in a week or so, the rest of the harvest strips many of the farms...always sorry to see the purple tint leave the fields. We have an old plant in the yard, but we leave it until the blooms have dried because the bees and Hummingbirds love it.

On a change of topic, I had a lot of emails at Antiques And Teacups about the Prince Harry & Meghan wedding mugs we had as they sold out, asking if we would be getting anymore. I couldn't get any more of the Leonardo ones I had before as the pottery sold out, but we did get some by Adderley, England which arrived a week ago. Tuesday Cuppa Tea For July

Hello and welcome to Tuesday Cuppa Tea for July! That is amazing! We are definitely having summer weather, along with the rest of the country!

Our daughter and son in law were here and we had a wonderful week with them...they stayed at our local Sequim Bay Washington State Park in their trailer with their 2 dogs, and it pretty well rained or misted every day they were here!

his was at a local restaurant where we had lunch after a walk... coming from Utah and temps over 100 though, they were loving it!

Our local organic berry farms are is full output, so we are eating various berries most of the day...

And the strawberries are part of my post this week...

My tea time this week in the sunroom was small, because my Honey has been grappling with 2 new health issues since the kids visit, so every day has been a test, lab or doctor...with another specialist tomorrow...

My family Royal Doulton Rosebud china a Gorham Chantilly silver are out....

And a Monet Water Lilies teapot that my daughter really liked. It's a nice big size, and really pretty...

The teapot was made in China for Leonardo, England. I had them before and sold out of them, but I have again a few at Antiques And Teacups...

We have so many strawberries, they found their way onto the tea tray... in an Old Country Roses sugar basin....

And I made some simple whole wheat shortcakes to have with the strawberries.... they work well as scones with jam as well.

I remembered this great small hardback guide from Christie's, the aution house, I have had for years. It was published in 1996 and I picked it up then in England on one of our annual trips to England.

Each page has an example of a famous maker with history, etc, and a wonderful photograph...

I found this enlargement of one of the teapots from the book on Christie's website....
