Hello and welcome to Tuesday Cuppa Tea for the 4th of July 2017!
3 Cheers for the red, white and blue!
My sunroom tea for the 4th is just that...red, white and nlue transferware!
My table is presided over by my God Bless America Eagle...always out for patriotic days, although usually higher up on another wall...
I have a lot of transferware, but most was made in England...so most of what is on the table is made in England.
BUT...I thought this Liberty Blue dinner plate in the Independence Hall Philadelphia was perfect!
The blue transferware plate was made by Enoch Wedgwood, England for the American market to celebrate the Bicentennial in 1776. The pattern was sold /given away first at Eastern Ben Frankin Davings and Loan branches, and then available at grocery stores across the nation with points or stamps.
The red transferware teapot is a teapot I love because of the octagonal shape and is in the Old Britain Castles pattern...
My blue and white transferware teacup trio is the Royal Homes Of Britain pattern, also by Enoch Wedgwood from the 1950-1960s. This is a member of the Wedgwood family, but not the Josiah Wedgwood we think of with the Wedgwood name famous for jasperware.
My red transferware cup and saucer is by Enoch Woods in the English Scenery pattern from the 1940s, which is one of my favorites!
I am usuing 2 open salts in the same pattern, one to be a sugar bowl with my American Wallace sterling silver art deco sugar tongs from the 1930s...
I am using a set of 4 American made silver plated teaspoons by Rogers 1847 in the Her Majesty pattern from the 1930-1940s...
And tea today is from the English tea company Harney & Sons...in my favorite Darjeeling...
For a tea treat...I made some simple shortbread stars with red, white and blue sprinkles...I have shared the recipe before...it is HERE. I had thought to do something fancier, but we are enjoying peaches by the lug around here, and I just didn't think Peach Kuchen was 4th of July enough, so stars it is!
Thanks so much for joining me for tea and wishing you a wonderful
4th Of July!
God Bless America!

ReplyDeleteYour dishes and the way you've displayed them are stunning. Thanks for the inspiration.
ReplyDeleteRuth, thank you for hosting. Lovely pieces, and I'm glad you show the marks and give the details and dates. When I do afternoon tea in the gazebo, I like to serve an extra dessert (besides those on the three-tiered stand) in these glasses my aunt gave me. Sometimes it's rhubarb crumble, sometimes fresh strawberries and cream.
ReplyDeleteI just love a mix of transferware for the 4th! This looks spectacular! Thanks for sharing at Home Sweet Home!
