Happy Canada Day! Friday July 1st!

It's July 1st, so I just want to wish my many Canadian friends a wonderful Canada Day! Hope it gives you wonderful times with loved ones and fun times and many memories made!

And...because the blog is Antiques And Teacups...here is a 1930s Royal Winton Grimwades Canadian teacup from the shop to celebrate!

The Canadian crest...at least I think it is...is so cool when you look at all the little emblems included...

So have a wonderful day, eh...we'll be watching the Victoria fireworks across the Strait of Juan De Fuca tonight!

My tea party linky, Tuesday Cuppa Tea will be up on Sunday...as per usual...see you then!

Alaska Teas For Tuesday Cuppa Tea And An Alaska Giveaway!

Welcome! GREAT news on the blood work...we were so healthy the nurse sent the doctor into the room with 3 pieces of chocolate each! Lol! But this post may be late...for which I apologize in advance...because Saturday morning, while doing prep for dinner Sat. night, I tripped on our cat who was underfoot as usual, and fell off balance into the cooktop...just missing hitting my face on the edge by catching the edge with my wrists...ooohhh such pretty colors have appeared...and twisting my back. So, as all my photos are on my desktop and as Blogger doesn't like iPad...this post will have to be done in small increments for just as long as I can sit in my desk chair...sigh...if it isn't one thing, it's another!

As some of you may know, we are repeat offenders as far as Alaska cruises go...especially because we live near ports and can get some killer last minute deals...the residents of other cruise port cities, like Miami or Los Angeles probably have the same story...so we were up in May for a cruise...and I always look for tea...

I came home with 3 varieties from an Anchorage tea blender and coffee house called The Kobuk that looked good, but actually bought them in Skagway.

The first is called Winter Berry Blend which features black tea, raspberries, peppermint leaf and chocolate and smells and tastes wonderful.

This is their Samovar Tea....which is the Russian tea urn depicted...right in line with Alaska's Russian hertage. The Tea smells and tastes divine! Like a spicy chai black tea, lots of cinnamon, orange and cloves.

The third variety is called Drowsy Bear, and is a combo of chamomile, star anise, rosehips, licorice and orange peel. My husband has an herbal drink like Sleepytime each night, so I thought we'd give this a try, and he has really enjoyed it. So much so, we may order it online.

If folks are coming to Alaska from the Southern states, they often ask...do we really need a jacket? This is the Sawyer Glacier, in Tracy Arm...what do you think???

Alaska Giveaway

And that brings me to my Alaska Giveaway.....

A package of Wild Blueberry tea...got this last year, and enjoyed it so much bought more for this giveaway....

As it's Alaska, thought I'd give you a pack of Gold Nuggets...chocolate that is...

A fridge magnet...so you can remember to visit the glaciers before they disappear...as many are shrinking....we have seen the difference in many over the years...

Slipper socks...me in the morning before my cuppa....you too???

And a small, hand painted Matrioshka doll...painted by Russians in Skagway...a traditional nested wooden toy doll.  So...there you have it.

In England National Cream Tea Day On Friday June 24th!

I already posted this on my Facebook page, but Friday, June 24th in National Cream Tea Day in England....the National Trust posted this yummy photo on their Facebook page...

And I also posted this...when folks asked about clotted cream...an English cream tea staple. This is a recipe I found very close to my hand-me-down English Nana's recipe, but also has some history and photos...not just oil stains like my Nan's has....from Tori's Kitchen...with a great photo tutorial....The Old Fashioned Way: Clotted Cream And Scones

And this next article answers the age old question...which goes on first...cream or jam????

https://www.businesscornwall.co.uk/latest-news/2016/06/its-definitely-cream-on-top/

So...I hope you get to have some...unfortunately, Friday will be spent at the Doctor's for our annual physicals, doctor's visits and prescription re issues, so no scones & cream for us...sigh...

Strawberry Picking Time Tuesday Cuppa Tea

Hello and welcome to Tuesday Cuppa Tea on a wet day...but warmer weather expected by tomorrow!

I hope you had a lovely Father's Day in your home...ours was a mixed blessing, as we got a call from the kids of course, but when our daughter called to wish her Dad a Happy Father's Day...it was from the hospital...where our youngest grandson...who just turned 21 a week ago...had a diabetic out-of-control episode and had to be in the hospital for stabilization. He was diagnosed at 6 months of age, and does very well, but sometimes things just go haywire, for no reason they can pinpoint.   But got a text just a few minutes ago that he was stable and they could take him home. I am so grateful for modern medicine...he would not be alive without it and he is the sweetest boy imaginable! We are so grateful for answered prayer!

It is definitely early summer here in the Pacific Northwest...proven by the opening of the strawberry fields in town. That was the inspiration of my teacup post today...but I had to use a teacup I have already shared...because the other strawberry themed one I had planned to share sold and was shipped before I could photograph it!

So...I am repeating this strawberry teacup.  This is one of my favorite teacups in a pattern called Strawberry Hill that was made by Wedgwood, England between 1957 and 1978. I love the shape...and I love strawberries!

Strawberries are an early spring harbinger and essential around here. We drove the 2 miles to the coast last week to a U-Pick organic farm called Graymarsh Farm here in Sequim...

You can see the Olympic Mountains of Olympic National Park, still with some snow field. The other photo looks to the water of the Strait of Juan De Fuca.  It was mid week, and early in the day, but we weren't the only pickers....

A little later...next moth in fact, the Graymarsh U-Pick lavender opens up, the week before our annual Sequim Lavender Farm Faire, but the crop is turning purple nicely...

Then it was time to slice, sugar just a bit and serve with a homemade non dairy angel food cake...

Sometimes we serve it with the non dairy coconut ice cream I get at our organic market. Yummm!  And thinking of strawberries...

This is a birthday treat I received at the Fairmont Empress in Victoria, BC Canada a couple of years ago.....

A cute little tuxedo dressed 3 tone chocolate covered strawberry, white and dark fudge and a chocolate truffle with a little plastic tube and bulb inserted into it. We hadn't seen that before. The tube was filled with a liqueur. We weren't quite sure how to eat it though. Oh well...we are pretty provincial folks...  But I love the little tuxedo!

Several months ago, I received a letter from Judith of Lavender Cottage enclosing 2 Canadian postage commemorative stamps of Queen Elizabeth II....

The stamps were issued in anticipation of Sept. 9, 2015, when Queen Elizabeth II became the longest reigning monarch...replacing Queen Victoria. Sweet Judith knew I would treasure these...such a thoughtful gift! Thank you Judith! I realized I have never shared this thoughtful gift, but with all my royal postings lately, I went and found them in my curio cabinet where they live.

Also a Happy 34th Birthday for William, Duke Of Cambridge who's birthday is Tuesday, June. 21st...

Thanks for joining me for my Tuesday Cuppa Tea...and strawberries!  I am joining...
