New Royal Coach from Australia Used As Queen Opens Parliament

Today, June 4, 2014 was the ceremonial opening of Parliament in London, when the reigning Monarch gives the throne's version of what the government hope to accomplish.

Queen Elizabeth II celebrated her 61st anniversary on the throne on June 2. The coronation took place on June 2, 1953.

This year the procession to the Opening of Parliament took place in a new state coach that was made in Australia for Queen Elizabeth's Diamond Jubilee, and will be known as the Diamond Jubilee Coach. The maker is W. J. Frecklington, and it is gorgeous!

The Queen's speech was only marred by the fainting of a page boy 8 minutes into the speech. The excitement, pomp and ceremony would be overwhelming, I would think.

Our annual visit to London always included the Royal Mews where the Queen's Windsor Grey horses and the coaches and cars are kept and this coach will be a great addition.

The Windsor Greys are in harness in the photo above. The breed was developed by Queen Elizabeth at the castle and stud farm at Windsor Castle. They are gorgeous!

Anyway, thought you might like to see it. Have a wonderful day and cheers!
