Hello my dear friends! I am attempting a short Tuesday Cuppa Tea post...seeing how the wrist/arm holds up.
I posted on the last post that I ham trying an ergonomic mouse. I am also having to retrain my typing.....that's a bit difficult as well...but...basically doing well!
This is a pretty teacup I found recently at an estate sale that I really liked. The English bone china teacup has a wonderful art deco shape...look at the pointy handle! So typically 1930s. The design is so pretty as well...and I am not usually a fan of yellow, but really like this color combination. The rust leaves are a good foil for the yellow rose....
The maker is English Castle, which was a bit of a puzzle and took some research. There have been loads of potteries in the Staffordshire area of England, which is generically, and affectionately referred to as The Potteries. Many potteries had relatively short lives, as so left little record of their existence. After quite a bit of digging I found out that English Castle was only around from 1908 to 1939. It closed at the time of the 2nd World War.
On the mark, the number indicates the pattern number, and after the slash the colorway...so this pattern was made in more than one color. So...there you go! They obviously made wonderful items...would love to know why they closed, but....
For more info on the cup and saucer at Antiques And Teacups....click on the photos....
As of course you know...how could you not...that Prince William and Kate now have their baby...HRH George Alexander Louis Cambridge. The baby was offically registered last week...here is a copy of the registry certificate...
The registry was signed William. The new prince is now 3rd in the succession to the throne and mother and baby are doing well.
Okay....that's all I can do today...my hand is acting up a bit. Thanks for your patience and kind emails and comments. I am visiting your wonderful blog posts but can't always comment, for which I apologize! Here is the linky, but I may not be able to answer your comments. Have a great week!

Hi Ruth,
ReplyDeleteI am so pleased that you are able to host Tuesday Cuppa Tea once again. It is so interesting to see the Birth Certificate and photo of the proud parents. Your newest teacup is darling. I love the shape of the cup. I hope that your wrist continues to improve. Have a wonderful week! Take care,
Karen I
Hope the new gadget works wonderfully!
ReplyDeleteHi Ruth,
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you are hosting again. Praying your wrist feels better real soon! Your teacup this week is so pretty. It reminded me of my yellow roses in the garden. They are through blooming for this year and your teacup is a nice reminder. Thank you for hosting and take care.
Nancy
Hello Ruth
ReplyDeleteNice to see you posting, and hosting tea again. The yellow roses on your teacup are pretty and the colours could make this one perfect for autumn.
Interesting to see that even on a birth registration the HRH must be used formally.
Judith
What a lovely and delicate teacup. I love that you were able to find that this company only worked for such a short period. It makes the cup even more special.
ReplyDeleteBecause of the colors, I think that is a perfect teacup for fall sipping!
ReplyDeleteBest of luck with your wrist. What an ordeal, especially for a blogger!
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty new tea cup- perfect for an Autumn tea with those colors- and the birth certificate- how funny- under occupation it says Prince of the United Kingdom! :) Thanks for sharing
Take care
