Hello my dear tea friends! It seems like a huge battle is finally concluded, and I am back with Tuesday Cuppa Tea.
A short synopsis...after being a victim of blog piracy that took WEEKS of hard work for some of us to prevail, the blog was my own again. But when, on techie advise, I changed to my own URL, something went wrong in the code and the blog suffered all dead links and all sidebar info had disappeared. It was not until 2 days ago that that finally got fixed!!! So I am holding my breath to see if the linky for Tuesday Cuppa Tea will again work. I apologize again for so many of you that had problems leaving comments or linking. I also want to say how much I appreciated the help, kind comments, emails, feedback and patience I have received from so many of you! It took the tech quite a long time to locate the "rogue code" that caused the problem.
So....
The teacup I have today is in honor of the official birthday of Queen Elizabeth II, celebrated Saturday June 15th, although her birthday is actually in April. The queen was 87! That woman is a wonder!!! The official birthday was celebrated as usual with the Trooping Of The Colour, by all her 5 Queen's Guard regiments. Until the late 1980s, Queen Elizabeth rode sidesaddle in the procession back from the ceremony.
This is a cup and saucer made for the coronation in 1953 by Samuel Radford's, England with their choice of graphic Queen Elizabeth II in her Trooping The Colour uniform. It was an unusual choice for a coronation design, and I like it because of that. It is also special because of the crown incorporated into the handle. That is so wonderful!
Radford's is another of the Stoke-On-Trent Potteries area manufacturers that filled the are of Staffordshire in the late Victorian era, beginning in 1897. The company made lovely china and tea wares and finally closed in 1957, another pottery victim of the lack of new designers in tune with the new desires of post World War II Britons. For more info on the cup and saucer at Antiques And Teacups, click on the photos.
This photo is from 1982 of Queen Elizabeth at the Trooping of the Colours on her horse Burmese. I have never ridden sidesaddle....looks too uncomfortable and precarious to me!
This year saw other members of the Royal family mounted behind the Queen's carriage. They are, left to right, Prince William, Prince Charles, Princess Anne and Prince Michael of Kent.
Prince Harry, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall and Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge shared a carriage and a laugh at something. This is Kate's last public duty before the birth of her child, expected in July.
Later, Queen Elizabeth shared a laugh on the balcony of Buckingham Palace with members of the family as they waited for the military fly by. All the photos here, except the photo of the Queen on Burmese are from the Daily Mail Online. Click on the name for more photos of the event.
I wanted to share a great recipe I found this week in the Cottage Journal for Pina Colada Cupcakes that looks and sounds scrumptious!

Everything is such a learning experience. I tell my husband all the time that for the rest of our lives we will have to keep learning. Glad you got things up and running as you have been missed!
ReplyDeleteSo very, very glad you are back -- and what an awful lot of aggravation you had to go through to get here. Mercy! Now I just adore that teacup with the crown designed into the handle. What a unique piece! Wish I had one of those cupcakes right now to go with my morning cuppa!
ReplyDeleteHello Ruth,
ReplyDeleteIt's so nice to have you back! Your blog linky won't allow me to link up for the party. I'm wondering if anyone else is having this problem. I'll have to try again later. Take care, my friend.
Blessings,
Sandi
Nice to have your back. For some reason I can't get linky to work. I will try later. Enjoyed your post and teacups celebrating the Queen's birthday. I love pina colada and will have to try these cupcakes. Happy Tea Day!
ReplyDeleteSo glad you are back and up and running Ruth. I just have to smile when I think that an American could be infatuated with our monarch. Growing up singing 'God Save the Queen' and having English roots, I've never thought too much about my interest in following the royals. I have to admit, Diana was everyone's sweetheart and since her, I've not followed too closely any more except for HRH, the Queen.
ReplyDeleteNice photos you've shared and I too like the crown in the handle of the teacup.
Judith
Hooray! Glad you're back in business, Ruth! How horrible - blog piracy??? You shall have to message me and explain THAT scary thing! But, praise God we have good things and beauty to celebrate again! Lovely cup and photos of the Queen. Yes - the Lord has been good to her health-wise - and her husband well and home after surgery, too! Enjoy your cuppa today!
ReplyDeleteJoy!
Kathy
Missed you~so glad you are back!

ReplyDeleteWelcome back, dear Ruth!
I wasn't ware you were going through all those problems in blog land. I'm glad things are gradually back to normal. I wasn't able to enter my comment yesterday or use the link tool, but now everything seems to be fine :)
Have a great tea day!
Hugs
Hello, hello! What a bother the blog problems have been, eh? I hope you are enjoying the beginning of summer, Ruth. Your dishes are lovely and the recipe sounds delicious. Thank you for hosting, dear lady. :)
ReplyDeleteShawn
So glad your back. Lovely cup and I enjoyed the photos of the Queen. I had no problem linking up.

Wonderful! So glad those nasty computer problems are worked out-
ReplyDeleteWhat a festive, fun post! The tea cups are just beautiful and the cupcakes-wow!
A happy Birthday to a most remarkable woman and monarch.
Welcome back!! Great teacup and enjoyed the photos of the queen...
ReplyDeleteMmmmm....I am dreaming of cream cheese frosting : )
ReplyDeleteYour commemorative tea cup is lovely! That is such a nice design. I have two cups about Elizabeth's coronation, and I love them. But I rarely see them here in my area of the country.
I really love seeing the images of the Queen and family.
I am sorry you have had to go through so much trouble with your blog. But am thrilled it seems you are through the worst of it. I hope it never happens to you again.
Hugs,
Terri
You have some seriously beautiful tea cups. I am always amazed at that you show us. Have a wonderful week. Blessings, Martha
