Hello and welcome to my meme Tuesday Cuppa Tea where we share things related to the wonderful and restful pastime of taking tea! You will find the linky at the bottom if you would like to link your tea related blog post. There is also a list of some of the blogs I am joining. Find a comfortable seat, a cup of tea and relax!
My teacup today is another blue and white one, this time made of ironstone with a pretty basketweave pattern and blue roses. The cup and saucer was made in the 1950s by Wedgwood &Co., Enoch Wedgwood, England. BUT...it's not thw Wedgwood we think of with the jasperware I shared last week. This Wedgwood, although a relative of Josiah Wedgwood, had his own pottery in Tunstall, the Unicorn pottery, which explains the device or symbol. They were a busy pottery family! I love the basketweave feel of the pattern, and, of course, it's blue and white! For more info on the teacup at Antiques And Teacups, click on the photos.
I think I decided to share this one, because we got out the picnic basket...which I forgot to photograph, and went to a local Washington state recreation area, Salt Creek, last week, just to the west of Port Angeles on highway 112 on the way to the most northwest corner and point of the USA. The area is gorgeous! But isolated, so the road washes out often during the winter. But last Wednesday was perfect! There are hiking trails, camp sites for tenters and RVs, picnic areas and play areas as well as tidepools and sandy beach access. I realized I only took beach photos!
This was at the Tongue Point area of campsites where there were also picnic benches. We had our lunch overlooking the sea. My breathing is best at the coast!
If you look closely, you can see a paddle boarder. I did a closeup of the boarder in the photo above. The day was beautiful! We, however, stayed dry!
There were wild pink dog roses everywhere, but the bright sunlight washed out the color on the photos.
As you can see, it was a perfect summer day! But we have had rain since, and it's raining now. Again, I reported a while ago the rainfall just west of this in the little town of Forks, WA. Official rainfall total from Jan.1st to May 15th was 68.9 inches, and it has rained quite a bit since then! That's a rain forest for you! My apologies for those of you who are baking in the heat.
We think it's warm when you still have your jackets on! Last Wednesday was the first day of summer. It got up to 72 degrees in Seattle! Whoa!
Here are the blogs I am joining, and the linky for Tuesday Cuppa Tea. Have a great day and have a cuppa with a friend!

Lovely part of the country. I love the cool springs and summers here in the northwest. I'm so happy I live here. I would be sorry for those in the "hot" parts of the country, but then I think most people actually like warmer weather.
ReplyDeleteYour pictures show the result of all the rain - the lush vegetation and beautiful green-ness of it all. Gorgeous post.
Hi Ruth,
ReplyDeleteYour blue rose ironstone is so striking! What a wonderful place for a picnic and to create new memories. Thank you for hosting our tea party.

Love the Blue Rose Ironstone cup and saucer! And the place you visited is beautiful and looks so relaxing. Happy Tuesday Cuppa Tea Time!
ReplyDeleteNothing like a summer day by the sea. The more I see blue and white teacups, I think I'll have to look for one myself. The blue roses on yours are pretty and the basket weave adds a touch of elegance.

Love the blue and white tea cup and saucer. Your countryside is gorgeous, great place for a picnic. I do the same thing though, enjoy the time and forget to take pictures. Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteI love the blue and white and the history always interests me.
ReplyDeleteMy husband & I love Port Angeles and the surrounding area. The beaches are beautiful beyond any words I can say. As to the weather, I might seem to complain about the gray days, but I actually love our weather and am thankful when the temps stay below 70 degrees.
You've captured my favorite color of china and one of my favorite places all in one blog post, thank-you!
Hello Ruth~ Oh, what a charming cup and saucer...I really like the basket weave design too. OH MY Goodness! I am in awe of the gorgeous photographs you took of the Salt Creek area!!! I hope I can visit this part of the coastline someday. Wow, what a splendid place for hiking and a picnic. Thanks for sharing these pictures. Also, thx for hosting the tea party. Happy end of June,

Your blue and white set is a perennial favourite and so delightful with the basket weave....OMG, ... I'd love to jump into any of those pictures and RELAX...HMMMMM... They're all so lovely!!! Thanks for sharing !! Hugs
ReplyDeleteHi Ruth! Your teacup is sweet - blue and white - I've been going through my Liberty Blues in anticipation for a 4th of July post next week so I have blue and white on the brain, too!
ReplyDeleteLOVE your coastline shots - and perfect setting for a prize picnic. Good plan. Though, I would be worried taking china into the wild - but do enjoy the beauty of God's creation!!
Joy!
Kathy
Beautiful teacup, and beautiful pictures of Port Angeles. I love that area of Washington State--we honeymooned in Port Townsend, and today live in SW Washington, where it has been pouring rain and cold all day! At least I didn't have to water. Take care, and have a great week!
ReplyDeleteOh the sea looks so beautiful! That must have been really something to sit there and take it all in.
ReplyDeleteYour china is gorgeous. Blue and white never disappoints and I love the pattern.
Thank you for your comments to my post. I agree totally with what you shared. My post is for beginners, who are not likely to come across anything more than 50 years old that they would like to begin with. I have had some e-mails asking me what to look for when choosing a tea cup. I tailored my post to be a starting point. And as I said, pinging "may" be a good sign. Certainly your points are correct.
Hugs,
Terri
Hi Ruth,
ReplyDeletevery intersting is the information about the two pottery businesses Wedgwood. We have the same case here with the two companies Hutschenreuther. Your tea cup looks very elegant. And I love the sceneries of the nature you show. Must be a wonderful area. Thank you for sharing all the nice photos.
Best greetings, Johanna
The blue & white is so lovely! And the photo tour of your picnic area is quite appealing. I love secluded!
ReplyDeleteHi Ruth,
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for leaving the lovely comment about my teaset. My Mom and I never knew the history of the set and we are so grateful for the information. Your photos of your trip remind me of the upper peninsula here in Michigan. The scenery is very much like what we have here. Enjoyed seein your blue and white teacup and info about it. Thank you for hosting your lovely party and have a good evening.
Nancy
