Teacup Thursday Duchess Fruit Cup And Saucer

Hello and welcome to Teacup Thursday with Miss Spenser's blog.

Today in Washington state it's still summer...which means we are basking in actually hitting 80 degrees or close to it for the last few days. My prayers are with those who have been dealing with droughts and now the threat of a hurricane.

Because our farmer's market is finally beginning to get fruit in, I chose this 1950s Duchess, England bone china cup and saucer. I love the vibrant colors...you can almost taste the fruit! For more info on the Fruit teacup at Antiques And Teacups, click on the photos.

Our market is seeing some nectarines, peaches and plums with raspberries and blackberries. Late summer is such a time of abundance and going to our local market is a delight for the eyes, ears and nose. We love going each week to see what's new, and I plan my meals around what I find at the market. Last night we had pizzas I made with market basil pesto I made with onions, fresh tomatoes and even local mushrooms!  And I just realized I suppose I should have taken a photo...never thought of it! We just ate it!!!

Have a lovely day visiting the other blog participants in Teacup Thursday and head to a local farmer's market this weekend for some real taste!

  2. If there is a fruit I adore rather than just like it is a pear! Tricky little blighters though - hard one moment and overripe the next!

This is a gorgeous pattern and I find with Duchess china there is always a simplicity as well decadence :-)

P.S. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers about the hurricane - coming right at us here in South Jersey. The Lord is my refuge and strength . . .
