Finally I have found the time to post about last weekend's Sequim Lavender Festival and Lavender Farm Faire. First off...it was the first time it's rained on festival weekend in 15 years..l.but it's par for what we have had this year so far. It's a La Nina year, and that means wetter and colder than usual. But...we live here, so who cares????!!!! But the growers say that the display was slowed from peak by the cool weather by about 2 weeks, and there has been more of a display in other years. But it was still gorgeous and fragrant!
We started out on Friday at Cedarbrook Lavender & Herb Farm which is just a few blocks from our house, so a favorite for visits with friends. They have a nice restaurant as well. For the festival they had vendor booths, food, lavender products and live music available as well as lavender & herb plants, craft instruction & generally lots to do. We go early to avoid the crowds later which can be huge! Some other photos from Cedarbrook Lavender Farm:
We went to the street vendor fair downtown for more sights, smells and lavender products:
These were the cutest jewelry items of all sorts of fun things...mostly watch parts... and were called Watch Dogs, from a local artist, but no website.
A young festival goer whose mom had just bought him the cutest hat from a vendor like the top of a strawberry.
This was one of my favorite vendors...Opal Art Glass who made the coolest blown glass jelly fish. They were gorgeous! And since we are on the coast, perfect for our area. I LOVED them!
We got home about 2 pm and about 3 it started to POUR...and continued all the rest of the afternoon. We were so sorry for the vendors, but apparently things went well anyway.
Here is a link to our local paper's report (The Sequim Gazette) including photos they took:
Purple Rain, no Problem!
Tomorrow I will report on my Sequim Lavender Festival afternoon Tea at the George Washington Inn B&B
