June 1st! Teacup Thursday Satsuma Meji Fab Cup And Saucer, All I Need To Know Is On My Tea Packet

It's June 1st...can you believe it???  From the Country Diary of an Edwardian Lady:

June Mottoes

Mist in May, heat in June
 Bring all things into tune

A dripping June keeps all in tune

June damp and warm
Does the farmer no harm

Barnaby bright (June 11)
All day and no night

St Barnabas (June 11) mow your first grass

And her diary entry for June 1st, 1906:
Northwest wind. Heavy thunderstorms morning and afternoon

Sounds like the mid west to me.....

Teacup Thursday...I want to share this gorgeous Satsuma cup and saucer by Kizan that I have just listed at Antiques And Teacups. I usually don't focus on Japanese porcelains, but when I found this I flipped. I was able to identify the maker, Kizan, and date the set to the Meji period, around the year 1900. The workmanship is outstanding. The cup and saucer is all hand painted and is so delicately beautiful. For more info, click on the photos.

And lastly....all I need to know is on my tea packet...my Ty-Phoo tea packet no less! Love that Birmingham, England black tea, which has various quotes on the inner foil lining of it's 80 tea sachet packets:

If you are cold, tea will warm you.
If you are too heated, tea will cool you.
If you are depressed, it will cheer you.
If you are excited, it will calm you.
Gladstone, 1865

Make tea, not war.
Monty Python Flying Circus

There is no trouble so great or grave
that cannot be much diminished
by a nice cup of tea.
Bernard Paul Heroux

There are few hours in life more
agreeable than the hour dedicated to tea.
Henry James fr Portrait of a Lady

Have a wonderful day celebrating the middle of the year. May your joys be many, your thunderstorms few and your time with tea and friends memorable!
