The New Yorker Tea A Literary Tour, Tea Quote and Streamlined Teapot, Tea With Jane Austen

A friend on Afternoon Tea Across America Yahoo group or ATAA posted a link to an article in New Yorker Magazine Online on November 24, 2010 of an article called Tea: A Literary Tour which is quite fun. The article explores a book I got at Christmas called Tea With Jane Austen by Kim Wilson which is great fun.

Some of the things discussed are the novels tea appears in...like Henry James The Portrait Of A Lady, and which tea blender is said to have introduced Earl Grey to the world...which is personally not my favorite.

To change gears and move to the more modern, I wanted to share this art deco 1930-1940s Cornwall, England streamlined pottery teapot that I just love. I really think if Jane Austen had been around in the art deco era she would have liked this teapot with it's streamlined shape, no nonsense style and mottled, homey (or homely in Brit speak) art pottery design.
